Twilight's Saga New Moon filming sucked the lifeblood out of school

Vancouver Sun

Although thousands of Twilight fans would have jumped at the chance to be close to the shooting of New Moon scenes recently at David Thompson secondary, one student said the disruption was too much.

The Twilight fans who wish scenes from New Moon had been filmed at their school should think twice. I know I speak for other students at David Thompson secondary school in east Vancouver as well when I say we are so glad the New Moon crew has gone.

It seemed pretty cool at first, but when you mix in the hottest celebrities with a horrible film crew, the school turns into chaos. Closing the cafeteria for two days, taking over the foyer and forcing students to make detours and stop dead in our tracks during our break and lunch because they were filming a big-shot movie was not cool.

If they had wanted us to be quiet, perhaps they should've thought that through before taking over our school for two days. The crew acting like our school was theirs didn't help either.

I'm also sure many staff and students did not appreciate outside stalker fans coming into the school trying to get a glimpse of Spunk Ransom either. Famous people are humans, too; they'd appreciate privacy just like you would.

Well, it's a good thing that it was just a 2-day shooting.  Students of David Thompson Secondary School is now back to normal.  But let's admit that it was a hell of an experience & most of the students will surely live to tell the tale.

Harry Potter Producer Reveals Deathly Hallows Plans

I know, I know... I'm blogging about HP6 - Half-Blood Prince and Twilight's Saga New Moon. But I admit that I couldn't resist the temptation. Harry Potter's last book, "The Deathly Hallows" is just too appealing to ignore. I just want to be
one of the first to give some overview. So here it goes... Direct from inthenews.co.uk

Harry Potter producer promises fans "bold" take on Deathly Hallows

The producer of the films based on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has promised fans a "bold" take on the final book of JK Rowling's series.

It was revealed last year that Warner Bros studios has taken the decision to split the seventh novel in JK Rowling's hugely successful saga into two films, so as to pay suitable attention to its 784 pages of wizard action.

Speaking to Empire magazine as the release date of the sixth film in the series - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - neared, producer David Heyman dropped some hints about the exact point in the novel at which the first film would end.

"We've played around with a couple of places," said Heyman, "and ultimately settled on a place that we think is very exciting, and I think quite bold, in that it's not necessarily where one might expect."

He added: "You want to give a sense of completion, on one hand, but a sense that there's another piece, more to come.

"We tried one and then Steve [Kloves, screenwriter] came up with the idea to try it another way and when we tried that, it felt just right."

Daniel Radcliffe, who has played the Boy Who Lived in all the movies, added that the split in the two films comes "at a very tense cliffhanger".

***SPOILER ALERT***

Heyman and Radcliffe also discussed the challenges of filming the coda to Rowling's climactic book, which sees Harry and friends some 19 years in the future.

While Heyman is reportedly keen on using the same technology that allowed Brad Pitt to age more than 60 years - backwards - in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Radcliffe admitted to reservations.

"I am nervous about that," he told Empire, "because if it's good I'll be really, really pleased; if it's not good and that's what people are left with, that would be awful.

"If it's a choice between having me, Rupert and Emma looking a bit stupid and it being slightly comical or having other actors play us, I would go for other actors every time. So, we'll see."

Twilight Author Stephenie Meyer Lawsuit: A Hoax

By Randy Shore, Vancouver Sun

A news report that Twilight author Stephenie Meyer is being sued for plagiarism is now being reported as a hoax.

The Sun, a U.K.-based tabloid newspaper, reported Sunday that the author is being sued by a former college roommate for stealing the idea for the wildly popular vampire romance series of books and films.

A publicist for Meyer issued a terse denial of the story Tuesday morning, saying that nether the author nor her publisher has been contacted about claims of plagiarism or a legal action.

"What was spread wildly on the Internet regarding a lawsuit was untrue," wrote Meyer's publicist Elizabeth Eulberg in an e-mail to The Vancouver Sun.

The Sun UK has recanted its original story.

A number of Twilight websites erroneously reported that filming of the Twilight movie sequel New Moon had been halted as a result of the rumoured legal action, but production continues in Vancouver. New Moon is expected wrap shooting in Vancouver May 21 and work on the third installment Eclipse will begin immediately.

Given that the lawsuit was filed, there shouldn't be any case at all.  The former college roommate might had the idea but it was not published, therefore no copyright.  She/He wasn't the only one who could come out with the same idea.

Harry Potter - Emma Watson Photos & Interview Mag Excerpts

Emma Watson Talks Wishbones, Work & Wet T-Shirt Contests
by PopSugarUK

As FabUK showed you yesterday, Emma Watson is the cover star of May's Interview Magazine, looking flawless in the close-up shots that grace the pages — taken by Nick Knight — and stylish in the black and white images inside the magazine. Journalist Derek Blasberg conducts a lively interview with the newly nineteen year old star of the Harry Potter movies, and talks to Emma about her study, hopes for the future, whether she'll continue to act after the series of movies is complete and her friendships with Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint and much more.

Here are some extracts:

  • On wanting the part of Hermione: "I loved the books—I was a massive fan. I just felt like that part belonged to me. I know that sounds crazy, but from that first audition, I always knew. At the beginning, they were casting the other characters as well — but I always knew I was going out for Hermione. She came so naturally to me. Maybe so much of myself at the time was similar to her. Of course, all this terrified my parents—there were literally thousands and thousands of girls going out for the audition, and my parents were anxious about what I would do if I didn’t get it. They were trying to make me stay realistic—but I wasn’t having any of it. I was going to get that part. This is a sweet thing: My dad did a roast on a Sunday, and he gave me the wishbone, and I obviously made the wish that I would get this role. I still have that wishbone upstairs in my jewellery box."
  • On criticism after she expressed being unsure about acting as a career after HP: "Ha! I was a little bit shocked by people’s responses, too. Maybe it’s because, at the moment, there are so many people who want to be famous, so how could I not want this? Or, how could I not want to keep it forever? But I guess I just want to be sure it’s what I want. I was so young, and I don’t think I really knew the greatness of what I was signing on for. I really want to study. I would love to try theater. I need to try stuff out. But I say all this now—I’m sure I’ll still be here in 10 years, making Harry Potter 30."

To read more from Emma on juggling Uni and filming, her trip to Mexico and to get a closer look at some more of the images that accompany the article, just read more.

  • On trying to juggle University and filming: "At the moment, we’re there at about 6:30 a.m., which means I’m picked up at about 5:45 a.m. We’re filming both the seventh and eighth movies at once, and I’m trying to do all of my scenes now and through the summer so I’ll be available for university come September—though it already looks like I’ll be working on Christmas and March breaks."
  • On Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint: "In the last book, they’ve left Hogwarts, and they’re traveling around together. It feels right that it started with the three of us and it’s ending with the three of us. It’s about our friendship. To be honest, we see so much of each other when we’re working that hanging out together would be overload. I love them, but I need to see other friends off set. They’re like my siblings now... We’re three different people, too. We will always be very important to each other. But, at the same time, after eight Harry Potter films, we’ll be ready to go and do other things, and be other people, and have time for ourselves."
  • On the last day of shooting: "I can’t [think about it]. I will be . . . uncontrollable. It’s been half of our lives. It’s made us, it’s formed us. It’s such a big part of my life, so it will be really sad—and so much of the crew who have been there since the beginning are like my family."

  • On her possible choice of an American uni: "I never thought that I would want to go to America for university. As a child, I aspired to go to Oxbridge, because that’s where my parents went. When my dad talks about his time there, he says it was the most incredible experience. Well, I did a Shakespeare course at RADA last summer, and three quarters of the students were from abroad, mainly the United States. I started talking to them about what they were doing at their schools, and I respected the approach. Here, I feel the specification is very narrow, whereas in America, you’re encouraged to be broad and choose many different subjects. For someone who has missed as much school as I have, I want to go back and discover what else there is. I always loved school—I was a proper, proper nerd. I just want that back again."
  • On her trip to Mexico: "I went because I wanted to travel and I had heard such great things about the country...."
Derek: "A young girl in Mexico means spring break! Cancún, baby! Tequila shots at Señor Frogs!"
Emma: "That was the weirdest place ever. In Cancún, I felt like I had walked into an American teen movie. I was only there for two days—thankfully my friends and I were more interested in traveling around other parts of the country. But I seriously thought it was only like that in movies."
Derek: "When I was in high school, we went to Mexico for spring break, and it was surreal. Like, school nerds entering wet-T-shirt contests, and high-school jocks screwing the secretly slutty goth theater girls."
      Emma: "It’s so exciting."
Derek: "This is what you missed while you were doing Harry Potter, Emma."
Emma: "I know. I feel so deprived. But Cancún was certainly not my favorite. We went to Ixtapa, where the ruins are. It was a beautiful, chilled-out part of the country. We went to Mexico City, which was amazing, but quite dangerous. We were happy to get out of there in the end. And we went to Cuba—I would tell everyone to go to Cuba now, because in 10 years it will be completely different."

It seems that you just can't get enough when reading about Emma Watson.  Based from this excerpts, you can easily conclude that she's one of those rare actresses who's not at all wrapped up & caught in "stardom syndrome".

You can read the full interview in the May issue of Interview magazine!  Keep it up, Emma!

Twilight & New Moon Stars - Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Seventeen Magazin Interview

Another update from Examiner Kristina-Kasey Wheeler

Twilight and New Moon's Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart sat down for interviews with Seventeen magazine Mexico to discuss above all things - vampires.

The following is an excerpt from the dual interviews:

Kristen Stewart -

A lot of girls all over the world have fallen in love with Twilight.
Yes, it’s a story that can grab you easily because it has a magnetism that makes you become obssessed with it. It makes you want to read the whole thing and you’re not happy until you’re done with the last page.

When you were reading the books, was there a scene that you looked forward to filming?
Yes, I imagined the whole scene when Bella learns the truth about Edward. The whole plot is about struggling. Struggling to find out more about him, struggling to make him know that Bella knows what he is and she doesn’t mind. When he finally reveals himself it’s a really cool thing because he’s afraid to show himself as what he really is. And I loved how they communicated without words. I think it’s the best scene.

What kind of person is Bella?

I like her weakness. That’s my favorite thing about her because she presents herself as the victim, the damsel in distress and that’s what the whole relationship is about. The dynamic is fun, he’s a vampire and he could drain all her blood, but she’s not affraid of him.

Can you relate with her?
She’s a typical girl. I relate to her because of her personal strength. She has her convictions very defined, so when she believes in something she defends it.

Robert Pattinson -

Where you intrigued by vampires?
Not really. I think it’s weird the obssession some people have with them. I only read Dracula when I was filming the movie.

How do you feel about having so many girls following you around?
It’s scary because it’s something that it hadn’t happened to me before. Twilight fans are very loyal to the book and to Stephenie Meyer. I had a 100% negative reaction from fans when I got the role of Edward.

Why?
For everything. Edward is some sort of perfect creature, the ideal guy. And fans wanted a guy like Leonardo DiCaprio, but Edward is suppossed to be 17. When I met Stephenie Meyer, she aproved me for the character and literally the next day all the fans changed their minds and accepted me.

It must be hard trying to be so perfect.
It is. First I read the book and I thought there was no way that I could play and create all those perfect descriptions of Edward. Nobody in the world could have brought to life someone so awesome. Then I read the script and auditioned with Kristen, and she acted in a very unexpected way. She gave strength to Bella so that made Edward’s character a little bit more weak, and I took it from there. He, being some kind of demon, is completely taken with her. She dominates him.

How do you feel about being in such a blockbuster hit like Harry Potter and now in Twilight?
To be honest, I never thought of this when I got the role. Harry Potter was my first chance of reaching an audience and now this movie has become very successful too. It was very unexpected.

Have you been harder on yourself, since you’re playing such a perfect character?
Not really. I didn’ try to be perfect, I based him off on celebrities like James Dean, people with an endless charm. In this movie he’s very chivalrous, but I tried to make him sexier in the movie. I used the fact that I’m a vampire, I want people to think I’m mysterious and dangerous at the same time.

It's really hard when actors & actresses will play a role from the books.  Of course, the book fans expects something very near to what was described in the book.  These actors & actresses mostly fall down from their expectations at first.  Maybe because the books descriptions were so vivid that they visualized everything perfect.  Robert was right in saying that they should give an act with a different twist to what was in the book to compensate the short-fall.  And exuding sexiness on the role is really a top on the list.

Daniel Radcliffe Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince new movie role

Radcliffe Lands Slain Photographer Role

Daniel Radcliffe, who will next be seen in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, fought off competition from Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom to land the lead role in a new movie about a slain British photo-journalist.

Radcliffe will appear as photographer Dan Eldon in Journey, a film chronicling the civil war in Somalia. Eldon was one of four journalists stoned to death by a mob in the African country in 1993.

Eldon's mother Kathy believes Radcliffe was the perfect choice to play her tragic son. She says, "We resisted a lot of older actors because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood."

A compilation of Eldon's diaries—on which the film is based—has sold 200,000 copies since being published in 1997.

Filming is expected to begin later this year.

It seems that Radcliffe chooses his movies well.  Who will forget his first stint at the theater play "Equus" which gathered many good reviews and gossips due to his full frontal nude pix that leaked the web.

If this movie promises another quality & matured off-beat role, then "outgrowing" Harry Potter is not that bad after all.

Robert Pattinson of Twilignt 2 Snubbed by Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter 6) fan

Robert Pattinson Recalls Being Snubbed By Daniel Radcliffe Fans
He's not always been the heartthrob he is today...

These days Robert Pattinson is the centre of attention wherever he goes – but it wasn't always this way.

Before finding fame as brooding vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight, the British actor starred opposite Daniel Racliffe in Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire.

And the actor got a harsh reminder that he wasn't the star attraction when he was snubbed by fans in favour of his fellow Brit at the movie's premiere.

Rob tells Britain's Glamour magazine, "At a premiere for Harry Potter, all these people were screaming, and this girl asked me to sign something.

"Halfway through, Daniel Radcliffe came along and the girl snatched the pad away saying: 'I want Daniel!'"

He adds, "So I just shuffled off."

How times change!

It is understandable of course, that the fans will go after the lead actors & actresses.  And now it's his time to shine!

Daniel, 19, beat a host of well-known names to the coveted top spot with "Hannah Montana" actress-and-singer Miley Cyrus, 16, coming second and "Secret Life Of Bees" star Dakota Fanning, 15, claiming third spot.

Daniel came out highest due to the success of the wizard movie franchise and his critically-acclaimed stage role in "Equus," which has enjoyed runs in London's West End and New York's Broadway theatre districts.
